For those new to the Prediction League game, here's a run down on how it works.
You have to predict the result of every competitive EIHL game from the 12th January to the end of the season (week by week). The fixtures for each week will be posted at the start of that weeks thread, and you just have to fill in the scores. You must post so that your predictions look like this example below so its easier for me to input the data to generate your scores. Posting in another forum may result in your predictions being voided.
Eg)
Sheffield Steelers 2 Vs 3 Coventry Blaze
Nottingham Panthers 0 Vs 5 Hull Stingrays
Edinburgh Capitals 4 Vs 3 Basingstoke Bison
Scores are taken as they are posted. If you think the Caps Vs Bison game in the example will be an overtime result, there's no need to say. Overtime is ignored, so if you think a result will be 2-1 in OT, just put 2-1 down. Predicting a tie is a bad idea as you'll be able to see more clearly from how the scores are put together, but it means you'll only be able to get a maximum of 1 point. Even for Challenge or BK Cup games which could finish as a tie on the night, predicting one won't do you any better, so try to pick a winner. If it finishes as a tie, nobody will score highly from it, and predicting the tie won't improve your score.
For each game, points are awarded as follows...
Predicting the correct winning of the game - 2 points
Predicting the home goals correctly - 1 point
Predicting the away goals correctly - 1 point
And for getting all of the above, ie predicting the result spot on, there's a bonus 1 point (so a total of 5).
Scores are added up from all games to give you your total score. If you forget to predict on a game, you'll score 0 for that game. Although there will be plenty of games to predict on, past experience shows the league to be very tight, so if you miss out on predicting one week that may seriously harm your playoff chances.
If for whatever reason you won't be able to get online to predict one week, give me a private message with your predictions for that week and I'll add them in. Make sure to check you've gained points on the table when you return though as I have forgotten predictions sent early in my PM box before.
At the end of the "regular season", the top teams will progress to the playoffs. How many teams progress and the format of the playoffs havn't been decided yet, there's a thread to vote on it for your favourite idea.
